Snowed-in in Connecticut. We baked cookies with nephew and family. Turned it into a little stop animation.
Train passing by in Braddock, PA.
Fellow Googler Tu created this epic animation entirely in Google Docs. It came from a simple little idea I tossed out there during a brainstorm, and Tu really took it to an level of execution.
My original idea was actually to do an exquisite corpse experiment. A group of animators would each receive a batch of frames, seeing only the start/end frame, and work in secret, creating an unplanned narrative. But I’m happy with how the project steered, becoming a more direct collaboration between the three animators.
Artists have been using things like Powerpoint and Excel as an animation tool for a while now, so we wanted to highlight Google Docs’ realtime collaboration features.
New project in progress. Needs a name. Currently built in Flash, porting to HTML5/Javascript. Idea by David Lu (www.velluminous.org) and Alex Chen (www.presentcompany.tv). More details in this blog post.
